Rann of Kutch, India

  • Rann of Kachchh is located in the Thar-desert with some part in Pakistan named as Sindh.
  • It is a seasonally marshy region.
  • The huge area is covered by the marsh of around 10,000 square miles which is between the Gulf of Kutch and Indus River.
  • There is Luni river in the northeast side of Rann of Kutch. Rann of Kachchh is the only large Flooded grasslands in  Indo-Malayan region.
  • The land has desert on one side and the sea on the other that provide the variety of ecosystem.
  • The region is important for biodiversity Rann of Kutch has unique world-famous handicrafts.
  • Rann of Kutch has different types of embroidered cloths which are  Rabari, Ahir, Sindhi, Banni, Mutwa, Ari and Soof – and some styles include mirror or bead inlay.
